The Namur Tramway Group is a former tramway network that operated in the city of Namur until 1955.

Namur Trams History

The first lines of the nineteenth century:
  • 23 January 1892: Namur (Port) - Gare - Salzinnes - Malonne (Port). On 19 May 1895, the line was extended to Saint-Gérard.
  • 15 October 1893: Saint-Servais - Onoz. On 8 October 1898, the line was extended to Fleurus and Namur.
  • 21 September 1895: Namur (Port) - Wépion. Later extended to Profondeville.
There was a funicular on the Meuse side of the citadel from 1898 to 1912 to access the castle. It was replaced by the circular line 7 which, among other things, ran along the Route Merveilleuse.

Namur trams in 1949, the lines were:
  1. : Namur station - Place d'Armes - La Plante - Briqueteries - Fooz
  2. : Namur train station - Place d'Armes - La Plante - Briqueteries
  3. : Castle - Hayettes - Salzinnes - Namur train station - Place d'Armes
  4. : Malpas (Malonne) - Salzinnes - Namur station - Place d'Armes - Pont de Jambes - La Plante - Briqueteries - Fooz - Profondeville
  5. : Saint-Servais - Namur train station - Place d'Armes - Saint-Nicolas
  6. : Saint-Gérard - Malpas (Malonne) - Salzinnes - Namur station - Place d'Armes - Pont de Jambes - La Plante - Briqueteries - Fooz - Profondeville
  7. : (Circular line) Namur station - Salzinnes - Hayettes - Château - Route Merveilleuse - Pont de Jambes - Place d'Armes - Namur station
  8. : Belgrade - Saint-Servais (suburb) - Namur station - Place d'Armes - Pont de Jambes - Jambes-Nord station
  9. : Onoz - Belgrade - Saint-Servais (suburb) - Namur station - Place d'Armes. Tram 67 Charleroi - Namur used this route from 17 May 1953 until 31 December 1958.
  10. : (non-electrified line) Namur station - (bypass of the centre) - Pont de Jambes - Jambes-Nord station - Andenne - Huy
The Namur network is one of the first urban networks, after Bruges and Tournai, to have dismantled its tram lines. Mainly between 1952 and 1953, the line to Hannut in 1955 and the last line to Onoz and Charleroi on 31 December 1963.

On May 14, 1950, the bus was established throughout the southeastern part of the province1.
