Industrieel Smalspoor Museum (ISM)

The Industrial Narrow Gauge Museum (ISM) is an industrial narrow gauge museum in the hamlet of Amsterdamscheveld, which is part of the village of Erica in the Dutch province of Drenthe. It is located near the village of Weiteveen.

The museum, founded in 1984, is located on a 6 ha site, situated on the Dommerskanaal . On this site, peat soil was processed into peat litter by the Griendtsveen Turfstrooisel Maatschappij until 1983. The museum has a collection of field railway locomotives , wagons, tools, photos and other material.

Round trips are made on a narrow gauge line with a track gauge of 600 mm, 700 mm and 900 mm.

The site houses the only remaining peat litter factory in the Netherlands in its original state, with the associated unloading installation. There is also a four-track narrow-gauge depot built in 1910 , which served as a workshop for the museum for many years. Both the peat litter factory and the depot are national monuments.
