Stichting Rijssens Leemspoor (Rijssens Leemspoor Foundation)

Stichting Rijssens Leemspoor operates a museum railway in the Overijssel city of Rijssen. The museum tells the history of the narrow gauge in the field of the brick industry in and around Rijssen.

A century ago, there were about 15 brick factories in Rijssen, of which four remained in the sixties. From the beginning of the 20th century until 1964, they had a narrow-gauge railway to transport clay from the quarry to the factories. The first narrow-gauge railway of about 4 kilometres was put into use in 1907. Between Rijssen and Markelo there was eventually a narrow-gauge network of about 12 kilometres in length.

Visitors to the Leemspoor can take a ride on the narrow gauge track in field track with the track gauge of 600 mm. There is also a section of 700 mm.

Stichting Rijssens Leemspoor Rolling Stock

The rolling stock includes a (roadworthy) steam locomotive (3 Maaike , built in 1913 by Orenstein & Koppel , fabr.no. 6900), sixteen diesel locomotives, three electric locomotives, various passenger, freight and work trains. Part of the rolling stock was acquired in 1996 from the former Pony and Motor Tram 't Joppe of Johan W. Montenberg in Joppe .
