Regional Public Transport Authority

Region Gävleborg is the regional public transport authority responsible for the development of the county's public transport.

X-trafik handles Region Gävleborg's authority duties for public transport in Gävleborg county.

X-Trafik duties include:

• To work with strategic long- and short-term plans.
• To develop travel opportunities and systems.
• To procure transport services from transport companies.
• To plan and coordinate the traffic supply.
• To develop stops and terminals.
• To develop sales channels and ticket offerings.
• To inform about and market travel opportunities and ticket offers.

X-Trafik Regional Traffic Supply Program

The authority's mission includes, among other things, preparing a regional traffic supply program for Gävleborg county, which must then be determined by the regional council.

On 31 May 2022, the regional council adopted the regional traffic supply program for Gävleborg County for the period 2022-2032.

X-Trafik Report Public Traffic Duty

According to the EU's public transport regulation, each competent authority must once a year publish a combined report on the public transport obligation within its area of ​​competence, on the selected public transport companies and on compensation and exclusive rights that these public transport companies have been granted as compensation. The report must enable control and evaluation of the efficiency, quality and financing of the public transport network.

X-Trafik Notification of and Termination of Commercial public transport

According to the Act 2010:1065 on public transport, from 1 January 2012 it is possible to operate public transport on commercial terms.

In order for transport companies to be able to operate commercial public transport, notification of the performance of such transport is required to the regional public transport authority.

The transport company that is to operate commercial public transport must also submit a notification of this to Samtrafiken i Sverige AB.
